On March 7th and 8th DECA held their annual Food Truck race. This event consists of both DECA and Culinary Arts students teaming up to create a real life scenario that prepares students to learn how to run a business. DECA exercises their business management techniques while Culinary put their cooking skills together to make delicious food. This year there were six food trucks; Little Italy, Golden Chopsticks, BBQ Blitz, Happy Grillmore, Metro Subs, and Bullrito Shack. The food truck race was held in the commons during lunch. The competition consisted of each team being granted $500 dollars with the goal of making a profit. The Food Truck with the biggest profit won the competition. The DECA students were in charge of advertising, painting the food truck, creating a radio commercial, making posters and announcing their food truck on social media. On the contrary, Culinary students were in charge of creating a menu with realistic prices that are under $5, getting sponsors from other restaurants as well as fast food places and cooking the food that wasn't sponsored. This year’s Food Truck race winning team was BBQ Blitz, though students were enthusiastic about all of them. The workers of the BBQ Blitz truck got a pizza party.
