Over the past school year, the Newspaper staff of four has published over 40 articles, with this being the 44th. From hard news, features, editorials and sports, we have covered it all here at Sandia- and we can’t wait to do it more for our coming years in high school.
This year in Newspaper has been an adventure. This class has provided so many opportunities for me to get outside of my comfort zone and write exciting stories. I was able to actually write the articles I had been learning about in freshman year. Being in newspaper was such a good experience, for many reasons; the people I’ve met, the things I’ve done, and the experience I’ve gotten. This year I’ve done things I’ve never done before. I learned how to take good pictures and do photojournalism, I covered important school events, and I wrote articles that we published. The things I’ve written this year are actually being read, and that’s amazing. My work is cared about. Newspaper is one of the things that makes me happiest at this school, and I can’t wait to do it for another two years.
This year in newspaper has been tremendously exciting, super fun, mega worth it, and overall a wonderful time. The class is a wonderful way to escape a regular classroom environment and work in a more social classroom where everyone has a common goal. When you’re writing for a team and counseling with others about current events and school activities you not only stay in the know about everything, but you also have an outlet for discussion amongst your peers. I don’t think there has been a more interesting class that has non-stressful work that can also provide experiences that are needed and wanted by employers. Newspaper is a great class if you want to express yourself as well, writing for an audience about something you care about is an extremely fulfilling experience and with newspaper as an outlet it actually becomes a reality. The classroom always has a lighthearted and friendly environment and everyone gets along making for an awesome publication that everyone always feels good about. You’re able to attend school sporting events as well as other school events as part of a team. In all newspaper is an amazing class that is both stress free and exciting.
This year has been an incredible year in newspaper. It has been full of fun and exciting experiences. It has been a pleasure to work with everyone on the staff. I've learned so much this year. It has been so fun working on all kinds of different articles from sports to editorials. I've always wanted to write sports articles so it was kind of like a dream come true. Thank you to everyone on the newspaper staff for making this year as incredible as it was. It was definitely a class I won't ever forget. It was a very laid back atmosphere with some of the coolest people I know. It has been an honor to help rebuild this program and I hope it keeps growing throughout the years. Being able to go and attend and be a part of the school and be involved is an amazing feeling. Being able to go out and take pictures of events was definitely my favorite part of the year and was really happy that I got to work on my camera skills. Once again thank you to everyone who has made this year the amazing year it has been.
As my first year in Newspaper I am proud to say it's been a thrill. I have really enjoyed writing many wonderful stories and I hope you guys all have enjoyed reading them. There's nothing better than getting out there and covering all the great things Sandia has accomplished. Being part of the Newspaper staff has been such a great experience. Being able to go out there and interview people was at first scary but as the year progressed it became another magnificent skill. I hope to see the Newspaper class increases in size the following years. In all honesty there is not many classes where you’re allowed to speak your mind, have a safe and respectful environment as well as having the opportunity to commune with others the way we all do in Newspaper. In overall I hope all of our matadors out there enjoy reading all the stories we love to publish.
It’s been a wonderful year, Sandia- and we can’t wait to start up again in the fall. The Newspaper staff wishes you goodbye.
