Spirit week: the most enjoyable week of the school year. With the homecoming game/dance approaching our way students dress up everyday with the selected theme. Monday 9/17 Meme day, Tuesday 9/18 Hippie/Tie dye, Wednesday 9/19 Hawaiian/Tacky tourist, Thursday 9/20 Alpha theta/Frat boy, Friday 9/21 bleed red and blue. Students participated in dressing up, they all had some great ideas for showing their school spirit. A large variety loved meme day, you could tell by all the Kermit the Frog’s, the shark guy, the “my love and affection” cups, and so on.
The annual powder-puff game on September 17th, at 6:30 pm was a success, many parents/students showed up and cheered on the participating students. With the guy’s dressing up as cheerleaders/volleyball players and the girl’s dressing up as football players the crowd got many laughs. “The cheerleaders were spectacular. I loved their performance” said Victoria Sandoval. And for those that didn’t get to go to the powder-puff game the cheerleaders (guys) presented their performance at the homecoming assembly. Everyone immediately pulled out their phones to get video.
The Homecoming Club Fair and Carnival took place on Wednesday, September 19th. The environment was welcoming and friendly. The students running the carnival were dressed up in their Hawaiian/tacky tourists outfits supporting spirit week. They were also very generous to other students that came to the carnival. They had games and clubs set up in stands, everything was organized. The Carnival went very well.
Overall spirit week went well for this years homecoming, and the chosen theme’s related well to what students enjoy and like.
